Brest vs PSG - Ligue 1 Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Prediction.

Ligue 1’s final day will be played on Sunday, May 23, 2021 when Stade Brestois 29 vs. Paris Saint Germain kicks off on Match Day 38 at 20:00 (GMT+1). Venue: Stade Francis-Le Blé.

Stade Brestois 29 earned a point after picking up a goalless draw against Montpellier on Sunday, the 16th of May. The referee had reduced Montpellier to 10 men after Florent Mollet (R. 39’) was shown a straight red six minutes before stoppage time in the first-half. Both sides had plenty of clear-cut chances but failed to convert any. Despite the numerical advantage,

Montpellier had the lion share of the ball – 60%. It was Brest’s 8th draw of the season – the second in five games: DWLLD (Ligue 1) as they stay in 16th place after the penultimate game of the season. Les Pirates have scored 50 goals and conceded 64 - hence, have a GD of -14 coupled with 41 points after 11W, 8D & 18L. Their stats indicate a goal ratio of 1.35 goals per game. Coach, Olivier Dall’Oglio is expected to adopt a conventional 4—3—3 formation when he takes on PSG in a game that could decide if the current French Champions will retain their title.

PSG are in 2nd place on the table – 1 point behind Lille after defeating Reims, 4-0 last Sunday. On Wednesday, PSG added another silverware to their cabinet after defeating Monaco, 2-0 in the French FA Cup final. Mauro Icardi (19') and Kylian Mbappe (81') were the goal scorers. Back in Ligue 1, PSG had the numerical advantage after over Reims after Yunis Abdelhamid (R. 10) was sent off minutes after kick off.

The captain gave away a penalty and was shown a straight red for cynically stopping the ball from going into the back of the net with an arm. Goals from Neymar (13’ P) – the resulting penalty, Kylian Mbappe (24’), Marquinhos (24’) and Moise Kean (89’) - who came off the bench, saw PSG pick up their 25th victory of the season. Unbeaten in five games: WWWDW (Ligue 1), PSG has 25W, 4D & 8L. They have scored 84 goals (2.27 goals per game) and conceded 28. Mauricio Pochettino’s 4—3—3 formation will see Mbappe, Neymar and Di Maria in attack when PSG with 79 points make their final Ligue 1 appearance for the season.

The last time both sides met, PSG defeated Brest, 3-0. Before that fixture in March, PSG had picked Brest apart two months earlier in January, 3-0. An earlier fixture finished 2-1 in PSG’s favour.

A 3-0 win for PSG looks likely at full-time.
