Tottenham vs Aston Villa

Match Day 37 encounter, with Tottenham taking on Aston Villa on Wednesday the 19th of May, 2021, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham hosted Wolves on Sunday, opened the scoring just before halftime, scored again in the 62nd minute, and that is how the game ended, 2-0, with Spurs earning three precious points. Their current form reads; WLWLW. They are on 59 points from 36 matches, sitting 6th in the table. Mathematically, they can still finish in the top-4, 4th-placed Chelsea are five points above them, but realistically, their target has to be to stay at least 6th, so as to play in the Europa League group stage next season (do they really want to? Only they know)

. If they drop 7th, they will get “relegated” to the Europa Conference League, and if they drop 8th, they will not play in any UEFA competition next season. They have 17W, 8D and 11L, having won three of their last four Premier League matches. Goals, 63 scored, 41 conceded. Coach Ryan Mason played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Wolves last weekend, with Kane up front. He was the one who opened the scoring in the 45th minute. HĂžjbjerg pretty much secured all three points for Spurs with
his 62nd-minute goal.

Aston Villa visited Crystal Palace on Sunday, took the lead twice in the first half (0-1 and 1-2), stayed 1-2 up until the 76th minute, but by the 84th they were 3-2 down(!), something they failed to recover from, with that 3-2 staying until the final whistle. Their current form reads; LDLWD. They are on 49 points from 36 matches, sitting 11th in the table, four points behind 10th-placed Leeds United.

They have 14W, 7D and 15L, having won just one of their last five games. Goals, 51 scored, 44 conceded. Coach Dean Smith played a 4-3-3 formation against Palace last weekend. McGinn opened the scoring for Villa in the 17th minute and El Ghazi gave them the lead for a second time in the 34th. As guests, Villa have lost three of their last five games, but also beaten Everton 1-2.

  • In the reverse fixture back in March, Tottenham won 0-2 as guests.
  • A 2-0 victory for the hosts is predicted at full-time.
  • Date: Wednesday, 19th of May, 2021.
  • Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
  • Kick-off time: 19:00 (GMT+2).
