Euro 2020 Finals encounter, with North Macedonia taking on Netherlands on Monday the 21st of June, 2021, at Johan Cruijff Arena, in Amsterdam.

North Macedonia became the first team to lose all hope, even mathematically, of reaching the last 16, the night they lost their second game. After losing 3-1 to Austria on their debut, they lost 2-1 to Ukraine as well. They are still without a point in this group, sitting at the bottom of the table. In the… wild scenario that they beat the Netherlands and climb up to three points, they will still finish at the bottom of the table regardless of what happens in the other group game between

Ukraine and Austria. They have lost to both, so they cannot leapfrog any of the two in the table, even if they beat the Dutch by… four goals(!). Their current form reads; LLWDW. Coach Igor Angelovski played a 3-5-2 formation against Ukraine the other day, with Pandev and Elmas up front. Alioski had his penalty kick denied in the 57th minute by Ukraine’s goalkeeper, but he took the… rebound himself and sent the ball in, shortening the gap to 2-1.

The Dutch have already secured the top spot in their group, being on six points after their first two matches. Even if they lose this game(!) and there is a winner in the match between Ukraine and Austria, in other words, even if the end of the group stage finds them level on points either with Ukraine or Austria, they will still be first, as they have beaten both in their first two games. Their current form reads; WWWDW. Coach Frank de Boer played a 3-4-1-2 formation against Austria the other day, in their 2-0 victory. Depay opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 11th minute and Dumfries secured the three points with his 67th-minute goal, his team’s 2-0.

The two teams have met four times in the past, the Dutch have registered two victories and the other two games have ended in a draw. All four matches were in World Cup qualifiers. More recently, in 2008 and 2009, the Dutch won 1-2 as guests and 4-0 at home.

A 3-0 victory for the Dutch is predicted at full-time.
